The Story — The Emerald Macaw. Macaws are among the most intelligent and long-lived of parrots, treasured for their brilliant colour and their loyal, playful spirit. This portrait catches the bird mid-turn, curious and calm, its layered green plumage built from hundreds of shades of silk thread, so the feathers shimmer as the light moves.
