Peonies painted in ink and blooming in silk — deep magenta, violet and flame-orange blossoms with golden stamens, rising over bold black-ink leaves. Every petal is hand-embroidered in fine silk thread, in the Suzhou tradition, with the loose, flowing energy of a watercolor.

The peony is the king of flowers in Chinese art — a symbol of wealth, honor and flourishing love. Here our master embroiderers worked like ink painters: silk threads laid in washes and splashes, dark leaves pooling like wet ink while the blossoms glow against them. Joyful and elegant, it brightens a living room, entryway or bedroom.
